“Yes, we accumulate wisdom, but what use is it to us? Because the even’s when the wisdom would’ve been useful, they’re over and gone”. This is the mantra of earnest, inadequate protagonest Tony Steadman. Tony sits in a pub on the eve of his fortieth birthday with Nick, a man who seemingly has no regrets. The play follows Tony’s clumsy attempts to make something of himself, leading nowhere but back to the pub, where his second encounter with Nick becomes increasingly sinister.
