It was a sad day when Mary, a widow with one son called Jonnie, married James Roberts. Years of bullying have made life hideous for mother and son and a violent row ends in James’ death. As Jonnie is a lorry driver, he finds it easy to dispose of the body on a night run, but he has not reckoned on two factors. One, since James was a policeman, his fellow coppers are more assiduous in investigating his disappearance. Two, his partner on the Lorry, Les, is in love with Jonnie and would sell his soul for him. Hounded by his conscience, the Police and Les, Jonnie’s nerves gradually break. As Det. Sgt Brown prepares to take both boys to the station, Les knows a monent of supreme happiness when Jonnie turns to him for comfort.
